CCI–Dubna
The CCI Dubna office opened in 1995 and is under the direction
of Madina Bikbulatova. With five full time and three part-time
staff, the office represents Moscow and much of the Central Russia
region for CCI. The Dubna office recruits and prepares delegates
for CCI’s Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) and assists
with other programs, such as the CCI Leaders Institute. They also
manage satellite operations, which identify and prepare PEP candidates
in the surrounding area and Tatarstan.
Originally the office assisted with U.S. consultant visits and
recruitment for CCI’s Economic Development Program. Over the
years, it has worked on many projects and programs, including the
Presidential Management Training Initiative and others. The Dubna
office has also organized and hosted a number of CCI sponsored conferences,
including the CCI-Kaplan Agriculture Conference for private farmers.
Dubna is a small city (pop. 60,000) located just north of Moscow.
Surrounded by the Volga, Sisters and Dubna rivers and the Moscow
Canal, Dubna was founded in the early 1950s to house the Joint Institute
for Nuclear Research, an important international scientific center.
The city hosts many international researchers, scientific conferences
and delegations each year. In 1990 Dubna and the U.S. city of La
Crosse, Wisconsin developed a very active Sister City relationship
that has sponsored several exchanges. Despite its small size and
owing in part to the open, intellectual atmosphere of the city and
research institute, many NGOs and international service and civic
organizations have become active in the area.
